The UE5 skeleton is already on our radar. After the next update this month (which focuses on first-person support), UE5 skeleton mesh compatibility will be one of our focuses. We’re planning to provide a tutorial for it.

This is something I'm really, really looking forward too as my character uses the UE5 skeleton.

@neoakiro Yes, most likely we’ll publish the tutorial on YouTube once the UE5 skeleton compatibility update is ready.

Hello
I just bought the assets, and I just found out about this, seriously, there's no UE5 skeleton compatibility?

@makiru Thanks for your question. Characters using the UE5 skeleton can already be used through Unreal Engine’s retargeting system, so integrating different skeletons is fully possible within the framework. We are also planning to add official UE5 skeleton support in future updates, or provide a comprehensive tutorial explaining the full setup process. If you have any questions while setting it up, feel free to let us know.

@calo The best way currently is to retarget, which gives the cleanest results. One of the fastest methods is using the RetargetPoseFromMesh node. We officially use this in the Classic Survival Horror Framework for UE5 and Metahuman support, and it works very well. We might use the same method in the Modern Survival Horror Framework, too. When using this method, make sure the IK Retargeter and IK Rig are properly set up. I've attached some reference images to help.

I downloaded the template today and I've been looking into how to integrate the metahuman character as a player. I'm going to see if I can try it.
I'm interested in that because I use animations a lot to create cutscenes with Live Face Link.
Thanks for your quick responses and keep up the good work.

Hi, I followed your YouTube tutorial to change the character by replacing the Skeletal Mesh, and this is the result [attach image/video]. As you can see, there are also glitches in the animations.

The first thing I always look for in a template is how to change the player character, but dealing with the UE4 skeleton is a whole different story—it’s frustrating to fix these issues.

Those of us who buy templates often encounter this problem; sometimes we are looking for a shortcut, or we simply don't have the technical depth to fix complex rigging issues. It’s so much easier with the UE5 skeleton, but this is proving to be quite a challenge.

@makiru Thank you for reaching out and bringing this issue to our attention. It seems that the character model you used is based on the UE5 skeleton.

The video tutorial you are referring to is most likely the first part of the framework tutorial series, which explains how to replace the default character using a UE4 skeleton. That tutorial is not intended for characters that use the UE5 skeleton, which is why you are encountering these animation issues, Since UE4 and UE5 skeletons are different, simply replacing the skeletal mesh can lead to animation glitches if the skeletons do not match.

We are also working on future updates and additional tutorial videos that will cover working with the UE5 skeleton as well.

Thank you very much for the confirmation. As for that, let's hope it doesn't take too long. While I wait, I'll look at more of the assets and familiarize myself with them.

Hello,

None of the characters I have are working. I haven’t been able to get any good results when trying to change the character. I also tried switching between third person and first person, but that didn’t work either. I’m also unable to modify the arms.

A short tutorial using the free character available in the store would be really helpful.

Please take some time to look into this, as it’s very important for me, especially for working with MetaHuman characters.

Thank you very much, and I look forward to your response.
